Ally Mae

I should probably mention that I am not 42 weeks pregnant as the little countdown timer indicates. But every time I sit down to blog about my delivery, I realize that all the pictures are on Mike's computer and he takes that computer to work every day. So, pictures to come, I promise. But for now, just the story will have to do. There really isn't much to tell because it all happened so fast. Allison Mae was born on June 2nd at 6:07 am. A whole 2 weeks and one day before her due date. It totally caught me off guard and just the night before I was telling a good friend that I was in no hurry and was actually not feeling totally ready for 2 kids. Well, Ally must have heard me say that and thought she'd pull a quick one on me because seriously about 2 hours after I had that conversation, at 2 a.m. because I couldn't sleep, I was sitting in our recliner and my water broke. (Don't worry, I was sitting on one of Carter's pee pads from potty training, so the recliner was not harmed). I sat there in denial for a good minute and then decided to get up and go tell Mike. The second I told him he was on the phone with my little brother so he could be here with Carter while we went to the hospital. But I was still in denial. I couldn't believe what was happening because it was so early. After about 3 minutes of denying that I was actually in labor the contractions kicked in pretty strong so it was a good thing David showed up cuz we needed to get to the hospital quickly. Once we got there I got my epidural because I'm a whimp and can't handle ANY part of labor. 4 hours and 3 pushes later, Ally was here. It was a breeze delivering her compared to Carter which was so nice. It was such a surreal moment and while I was totally unprepared for her to come I kind of knew what to expect as far as delivery went which was nice because it made it so much easier to enjoy her little spirit entering the world. They let me hold her immediately and I got to hang on to her for a good half hour before they took her to the nursery to clean her up. It was one of the greatest 1/2 hours of my life. It's amazing how much love was in that room, she is the sweetest baby in the world and I'm so lucky she is all mine.

BEST birthday EVER!!!!

My mom surpirsed me by knocking on our front door on the morning of my birthday! She brought balloons and cupcakes and it was perfect. She was able to fly over that morning on my dad's company jet and we spend a bout 5 hours together just hanging out and shopping for fabric for little baby Ally. The day was topped off with hot wings for dinner and an ice cream cake from coldstone. I don't think my day could have been any better :)

In case you were wondering...

This is why everyone who looks at me says, "wow, you must be due any day!" I usually just give a courtesy smile and say no...I'm not due till mid-June..but thanks for asking! Here's to hoping that May flies by!!

On a happier note...my sweet husband is willing to make life a little easier for me! I had to post this picture because I think it's so cute how much effort he put into doing my toes! Good thing he never reads our blog so he'll never even know this is on here :)

Seattle

I FINALLY made it out to Seattle to visit my sister. And we had a blast! We went to Pikes Market, the cheese factory for some delicious squeaky cheese, Space Needle, watched boats go through "the locks", went swimming, to the mall play place, and even took a walk in the pouring rain (I guess that's what you do in Seattle when you're sick of being inside and it's still raining!). Carter had a lot of fun with his cousins and went on his first airplane ride and LOVED it!

Carter watching planes take off and below is us on the plane. He looks nervous but really he thought it was pretty cool.

This is a picture of Carter and all his cousins watching the cheese making process.

Christmas & New Years in DENVER!!

I haven't been home for Christmas in about 4-5 years so it was really nice to be there this time. The highlight of the trip....talking to my little missionary bro Andrew on the phone on Christmas day. He comes home in JULY!!!! And Carter was really cute and had fun "helping" everyone open their presents. Good thing he was the only kid so he could do all the helping he wanted.
Here he is in his cute Christmas slippers - he's loves Thomas!

Here he is Christmas morning pretty satisfied with his new toys.

and his new puppy tent.

It's a tradition to have steak for New Years day dinner and this year my parents added crab to that list...DELICIOUS :)

I love this picture because Carter is totally knows how to use an iPad on his own. Thanks Jeff and Andrea for letting him play with it!

Last but not least, I am proud to say my husband is a skier!!! My mom babysat while all of us went to Loveland. This was only Mike's 3rd time skiing and his first time in 2 years and he was a PRO!!! I was so impressed. We totally skipped the bunny hill and spent all day on greens and a couple blues. We had such a blast and I couldn't be happier that he loves to ski! We did take it easy though....because...I'm PREGNANT!

I think most of you already knew that but I thought I'd throw it out there in case anyone missed it. We find out on Tuesday if it's a boy or a girl so there will be another post in a few days.

Carter is 2!!!

This little ham turns 2 on the 22nd and since that is, and always will be, a crazy day we had a little party for him yesterday. He was in a pretty good mood all day and then had a blast when all his friends showed up! He loved all his presents and especially the cake. What a little cutie. We love him so much and are so lucky to have him in our family! I'm really glad his chubby cheeks have hung around this long because I can't help but kiss them all day long! We love you Carter!!
