Last month me and Mike celebrated our one year anniversary. We went up to Midway to celebrate and stayed at The Blue Boar Inn. It was during the Olympics and I don't know about most of you, but me and Mike really got into the swimming part of the olympics. Needless to say, Michael Phelps is amazing! So on Friday night, instead of going on a nice romantic dinner date we ended up getting sucked into the olympics. Well, when we got hungry we decided to just go downstairs to the restaurant they have to eat quick so we wouldn't miss Michael Phelps next event. In our shorts and flip flops we walked down and right away the server asked if we had reservations. Right as we told them no, they quickly told us it was ok and that they would have a spot available for us shortly. As we looked around we noticed that everyone in the restaurant was in nice collard shirts, some of the women were in dresses, and EVERYONE was sitting upright and with thier hands in their lap and everything! We were hoping they would just seat us on the side or in the back but no...right smack dab in the middle of the entire restaurant. And the restaurant isn't that big! I felt like everyone was looking at us and judging our appearance but we went ahead anyway. The menu had courses on it so we were all flustered with ordering...I didn't want four courses but didn't know if I was allowed to order something from the 3 course menu first! Well, we ended up just ordering what we wanted and paying more for one meal than we had planned on spending the entire weekend and we missed Michael Phelps because they took their sweet time with us. The food was delicious and we had a good laugh. It was a great weekend and I recommend the Blue Boar Inn to anyone who is looking for a nice close getaway. But if you want to eat their food, make sure you bring nice clothes and a few extra bucks!
This is the top of our wedding cake that we saved. Believe it or not it still tasted really good! Thanks to a great cake maker who knows how to wrap and store a wedding cake (thanks Michelle!)!!
